Default Whipple supercharger

Anyone have or has installed one of these. I heard they take the 2.4 to 250hp. Just wondering how involved it would be to install. they say 6 hrs.
Thanks

Blade,

To answer almost all your questions on turbos and supercharging, go to http://www.bstockum.com/ Bob Stockum is our local guru on all things fast for the PT. His site is highly informative.

If you pushed the NA engine to 250 hp it would be very short lived. You would need to build an engine that could put up with the boost you would need to get that much. Then if you are going to build and engine, you might as well put a turbo on it. I can't remember anyone saying that they were blown away by the performance after the whipple intall. By the time all is said and done, unless you have a highly customized ride that you just can't part with, just buy a GT.

PT-Tuning here in Southern California sells the Whipple and you can get more info on it at http://www.pt-tuning.com/performance...r_Whipple.html There's a link to a dyno chart from a Whipple equipped PT and it's putting out 200HP at the wheels compared to the stock N/A car's 112HP at the wheels.

I drove the supercharged panel conversion they have for sale and it was certainly fast. The President of the PT Owners Club has put over 70k miles on his Whipple equipped PT after driving it for about 20k stock and he claims to have had no problems. Apparently you need to perform regular maintainance on the drive belt - but from what I've witnessed first hand it isn't a big deal to change.

I put a Whipple on mine. Didn't get 200 hp at the wheels, maybe about 185. I have the dyno somewhere. Still a ton better than stock. With the BTG springs, its a blast to drive. I didn't try to install it myself, i had a chrysler dealer do it. It took them THREE DAYS. And they didn't do it right. If I were to do it again, I would call Whipple, ask them of the closest recommended installer in your area, and go to them, no matter how far. I went 3 hours to get the thing fixed right, and it helped a lot. I should have done that from the beginning.
Also, i've had it on for about 15,000 miles. No problems at all.

Blade,
The panel PT's look awesome. Great for customizers and for companies who would want the coolest little delivery truck around. Sounds like a great idea. Must be why Chrysler will never come out with one.

A guy I work with said if he owned my PT he would make it a sleeper car and install the super. I told him if I had his pay I would already have it.

I always thought about it but money keeps getting in the way, maybe some day.

DREAM2...I was just thinking lastnight a PT panel would be a good seller for Chrysler, seal the back doors in,sheetmetal the glass area and split window the rear glass.I'd like to do it to mine but $ gets in the way.

The Panel PT would work well with the floor flattened out too. Unlike know where the dip is near the rear doors. Make it kinda like a small cargo van.
