Default Power flush vs. drain/fill for tranny.

I've read things on PT forums about it being bad to have your tranny power flushed. Pushing contaminants into small passages in the transmission. Wondering what everyone's opinion is on this. I have the auto stick GT and I'm due for this service. I've had flushes done on other vehicles in the past with no problems but want to be safe with my GT convert.

My suggestion is to follow owner's manual.

kind of up to you its around $175 for a power flush in my area

you can drop the pan change 5 quarts of ATF 4 and a filter for about $70
thats only about half the fluid but to me it has to be better than nothing you get a new filter clean the magnet and have 5 quarts of fresh fluid'

do it again in a month and its pretty close to a full flush

the other thing si with out a rack its kind of messy so think of that as well

Another thing, if they don't pull the pan on the flush then you still have a dirty filter and pan. The filter is more important than the fluid. On the regular change, the fluid still in the trans is filtered and clean. So know worry's there. One won't make the trans live longer over the other if the filter is getting changed on both. So your call.

One thing with a transmission flush is the machine must have the correct mopar fluid in it. A good flush with the incorrect fluid would do more harm than good. I pulled my pan and welded a drain plug into it. I changed the filter at that time. With the drain plug, I get almost exactly 4 quarts which is half of the total and it only takes a minute after the first time. I change out a gallon like this probably once a year.
