Exclamation P0340/p0522 codes..

Hey all..

The basics: 2005 non-turbo base model, automatic transmission 87,000 miles roughly

I recently had a problem regarding the p0522 code. Took it to a local shop and they had the problem solved or so I thought in a few hours. They replaced the oil pressure send unit with a part I'm sure wasn't mopar..but didn't think it mattered with that kind of problem. They had cleared the code after the install.

Today while driving, the car had a minor surge which threw a check engine light. Got to my destination because the car ran fine, minus a little chug when accelerating more heavily going up hills and whatnot. Checked the codes and got p0522 and p0340.

I've done some pretty extensive reading regarding this problem, but my questions for you are, will A bad cam sensor cause the symptoms I've described? Will the oil pressure send unit need to be replaced again? Or am I looking at something like needing a timing belt replaced? It hasn't overheated as I'm sure it would with a timing belt break and no other warning lights are present. I plan on taking to a shop today, but would like input from you guys so I know what to ask for.

Your sure to need the timing belt in a short while (right around 100,000 miles). The chugging could most definitely be caused by the Camshaft sensor. Only buy MOPAR and might as well order and replace the magnet that's inside the hole where the sensor is. Clear all the codes after you replace the sensor and it the Oil Pressure Sensor light comes back on, YES, replace it with a Chrysler sensor also.

I figured I would leave it to the pros on this one. In case something was more serious than expected. How much do you guys think it'll cost to get this done? I'm thinking it'll be somewhere in the ball park of $200 if its just the sensor(s).

I did take it to a chrysler dealer...lord knows it'll be that much. If it does come out to that, maybe I can haggle that down. Labor around here is nuts.

It wasn't a matter of ease. Last week I put an oil pressure sensor in it, then this week I get the same error code for the oil pressure send unit in addition to the camshaft position sensor. I don't know if there is something else causing these malfunctions or if I just got the ultimate hand of bad luck.
