Default 06 starting problem

I have a 2006 Touring Edition. Approx 135K miles
For the past 2 months when in warmer weather it normally takes 2-3 key turns to get the car to start. In cooler weather (night) it starts no problem.
Yesterday sitting in direct sunlight on a very warm day (90ish) it would not start at all. Came back 6 hours later (70ish) and it starts on first try.

When I say it doesn't start it is not the normal dead battery sound like it is trying to turn over. Its just silent and all electronics work just fine. Radio, lights, windows, etc. Battery is maybe 15 months old and may have 15,000 miles on it.
Any other ideas

BTW I am soooooo not a car guy. What I have fixed on this car has been thanks to browsing this forum and youtube videos. I also dont have lots of cash to just go trying parts and them not solving the prob. I appreciate any and all help

Welcome to the forum

Not having alot of cash and having a GEN2 is a dangerous situation to be in.

If you havent done the timing belt, time to pay another 1000 dollars.

if it breaks, you are sunk.

What SPF car wax do you use?......Seriously though;I have a REAL question: "Does your PT have SKIM/security key?".....I ask this because I have read about the SKIM modules going bad/having weird problems on the Gen 2's with the CAN-BUSS system.

Ok, try something for me. Get a coat or blanket and put it up on the dash in the center part. See if that helps next time you go to start in the daytime.

Bone; Ignition switch? --- It must be comforting to know that your car cannot be hot wired !!!

Bone; I had another heat related thought. There is a starter relay above the master cylinder. [inboard relay?]. It gets pretty hot there!
