remove the hubcap and the cotter key in the axle, then the retaining cap and spring washer. loosen the big nut on the axle, remove it and the thick washer behind it.

loosen the lugs, jack up the car, take the wheel off

take out the two bolts that connect the hub to the strut, turn the steering wheel all the way to one side

pull the hub so the axle tip comes out of it (if it doesn't fit out, turn the steering wheel the other way)

put a pan under the trans to catch the fluid, and pop the axle out of the trans with a small prybar.(or large flathead)

that's it. should take you 15 minutes tops to remove and about 10 to put back in. you might also replace the $8 axle seal on the trans while you're at it. pops right out
