im the one that maintains it, heck i can't even get her to check the oil in it [xx(] i could probally put a turbo on it and she wouldn't even notice(until she finally floors it and hears the turbo screaming, then she would come to me and say "my car is making funny noises, fix it")

It's intended to prevent the driver from killing the car. Take your pic: Allow someone to possibly kill the car, or allow the car to shift?

I have a non turbo 2003 Limited with autostick, which is a strandard option. But I'm from Russia and here the PT's they sell are different from those available in the US (I think, it's the same for Europe). For example, until this year they only sold 2.0 liter models, which was very disappointing. This year they started selling GT's manual (automatic is not available), and I'm considering trading mine in for one of those. Go figure [:I]
Oh yeh, and they quote prices in Euros, which is a rip off considering the current rates.

Mojito welcome,
03_PT welcome,

03_PT you need to be patient, you probably paid somewhere near 20 g's for the base your family now owns. If you would have gone to the turbo, you where looking at 25+ im sure. I originally got the TE with chrome because our family needed a new car and I had the money. I could have waited about 6 months and gotten a turbo.

If you wouldn't have told your mother it was a turbo she my have been more interested in it. Of course my mom was with me when we shopped around and looked at the PT. One reason I have the one I own is because the color and chrome, plus I really wanted it, I also couldn't pass the price. I told her about the turbo and she said that I didn't need that. If we would have seen one there and test drove one without my telling her it was a turbo, things would be different now.

The turbos were out when I bought mine but scarce. If I had waited about 6 months later, I could have gotten an 03 turbo for about 22-23, which I would have had 5 g to put down, at the time I only had 2. The price I got on this one didn't hurt my bank any. Then again I use 89 octane and not higher.

Hang in there little man. I would try to find a good intake system and exhaust kit with the "Y" connection. That will help out with some horsepower and help some with fuel mpg.

Yeah the stock non-turbo engine isn't that fast. But if you hit it just right, that bi will burn the tires right off the rims. I have to be carefull when I pull out of driveways and such as not to burn the tires.
