Default Clunk in front

Had a clunking sound from the passenger (uk) side of my 2003 limited pt for over 12 mnths now had 3 different control arms fitted, and had tie rod swapped, new sway bar links/ bushes. 2 seperate mechanics can't find the problem, but seems like whenever I work on it, it goes away for a while, then comes back. Also seems less when the car is fully loaded/heavy.
Worrying thing is the steering has started to get unstable, wandering on bumps in the road.
Any suggestions would be gratefully recieved, as this thing is doing my head in, and I love my PT!

Question Re: Clunk in front

Thank's guys, you have confirmed my suspitions. I was going swap the strut and see. It looks ok and doesn't bounce too much, but the more I think about it the more it looks that way. I usually do most repairs myself, but just couldn't see any breaks or leaks, so I will order one asap.
Thank you for the quick replies.

Lightbulb Re: Clunk in front

First thing you could do is look at is the bearing plate on top,you may have a loose/missing nut,and the bearing may be bad........If you can have someone push firmly up & down on the front end,you might be able to pinpoint where the 'clunk' is coming from.
