Default Gas Milage SUCKS really bad

I am not a newby to the forum, but forgot sign in and password, so I re registered.
Anyway, I have a 2005 PT convert with 39,000 miles.
Haven't driven it much in the last couple of years, but I sold one of my cars, and started to drive it again last week.
Just checked the mileage, and it took 4.4 gallons to go 42.5 miles. That is 9.6 miles to the gallon, and I just drove it to my office and back, under 40 miles an hour at all times, and it's a 4 mile home to office and return trip.
My Mercedes gets 27 miles in town, and the Jeep I just sold (2007 wrangler Unlimited 3.8 liter), got 14 in town.
I remember it wasn't the greatest on gas at any time, but this is ridiculous.
It does have new plugs, air and fuel filter and so on, so it's not a maintenance problem.
Any suggestions?????

9.65mpg?... I'd say you've got a leaking fuel line somewhere.

Something definitely not right there, that's for sure! We're averaging around 23mpg* and we just cracked 40k miles in our Vert, and that's with a Stage 1 in mostly city driving too.

*(we did just take a nice flat highway run down to the beach though, so that is a bit higher than usual)

I agree with Vanilla!

It may not be warming up fully (or sensor's telling computer it's not warmed up), cracked exhaust manifold telling O2 sensor to puke in fuel.

I think you need to do more than testing, rather than just 4 gallons of gas

That doesn't sound right....

I have no idea how mpg is actually calculated, however, in one day of 74 miles highway driving, i 'think' i get about 20 mpg.
