Post 2006 PT overheating again

Hi guys,
a week ago I was on my way home when I was at a stop light and my needle on the temp gage started to go past the 3 oclock, mid point mark (I know not to run a car that is overheating) and since I was close to the dealer(1/4 to 1/2 mile away)I took it straight there. After they looked and did the test they called and said it was the cooling fan..They replaced it and when they started it up to test it they told me it started rough and then started to blow smoke (blown a headgasket is what they told me) said I must have drove it too long with the fan out( it never overheated until the day I drove it straight to the dealer and it was just a little past the mid point mark..as I said I know better then to drive it hot)..

They pulled the head and sent it off to be check, it came back in good shape no warping or cracks..the dealer replace cooling fan, headgasket, timing belt(while they had it apart) and water pump since they found a leak in it, I figured it would be best to replace it since they already had the rest of it apart(less the labor cost down the road)...They also replaced the thermostate and seal..I picked car back up last Thursday, drove it Friday and then again Tuesday all was good..Drove it Wednesday morning no problem then left work for lunch still no proplem but on my way back to work sitting at a stop light all of a sudden the needle jumped from the mid point all the way to the red.. I quickly pulled it out of traffic in to a parking lot and turned it off had it towed to dealer waiting to hear from them tomorrow..does anyone have any ideas as to what the heck is going on?? I am not a happy person as I have already forked out a little over1400.00 on all that they already did...Parts were a little over 500.00 the rest was labor cost...
Please any helpful ideas will be greatly appreciated..

Thanks,
Kathy

Question Re: 2006 PT overheating again

Hi welcome to the forum.

Where have you been?

What drew you to the pt cruiser?

Do you have any pictures

What mods have you done?

Have you joined any local clubs?

It sounds like you got taken to the cleaners!.....That's why I avoid taking vehicles to a 'stealership',unless absolutely unavoidable.
