Default rough idle

Hello all you PT enthusiasts!
First time texter so be nice.
My daughter has a base 2006 PT Cruiser, it has a very distinct engine shake to it. I replaced the upper left and lower left engine mounts and that really helped but it still shakes. I went to the auto parts store and they suggested that I remove and inspect/clean the AIC valve. I did this and found it to be clean and operating as it should. now, the interesting part, I disconeted the Proportional Purge hose next to the AIC valve and the engine idled rock solid. I reconnected the hose and it started shaking again.
My question is, where does that hose go to and what is it connected to? Is there a filter that may be clogged?
I tried to blow into the hose and could not so it is either clogged or goes to a valve or something that is activated via vacuum.
Please let me know what additional information yo folks may need and I will provide as this problem is driving me crazy.
