Unhappy Problem With the Engine 2004

Hi Everyone!

I was hoping someone could help me out with a problem I've been having with my 2004 PT.

About a year ago, my check engine light came on, and all of the sudden my PT started losing power when I would give it gas. If I press on the gas peddle too hard (actually if I press on it at all) it can't handle the fuel intake and starts stalling out. I've been getting around in it by ever so gently pressing the gas peddle, it also is unable to go on highways because it can't go faster than 60 mph.

I've taken it to a couple of mechanics and they are always left scratching their heads. As a last resort I've come to the PT forum for some sort of miracle, has anyone ever experienced this?

p.s. I can't take dates in the car because it's that brutal.

So you've been driving like that for a year???

Your in limp mode where the computer won't let you go fast so you don't hurt the engine.

Like Busted_PT said, give us the code the the computer has stored. When the engine light came on, the computer stored a code to help identify what's wrong. Follow the link below and see if you can give us the stored fault code.

How to retrieve fault codes.
