Default Need a little help with my sisters PT

2006 or 7 PT non-turbo. She went to leave work the other night, started up just fine, but it in reverse didn't even make it out of the parking spot and it shut off. Will not restart. Are there any common PT issues that would cause this that I should look at first?

If it cranks but no start. I would pull the cam sensor off and crank it over to se if the cams areturning. You didn't say how many miles or if that had been done already. If the belt broke you don't have to worry about the pistons hitting the valves. They can't.

"will not restart" is too vague....
Does it crank?
Just a click?
Nothing?

Sorry for the vagueness, I'm just trying to find a good starting point before I take a look at it. But according to her it sounds normal like it always does when the car starts only it doesn't start.

I've replaced the radiator fan on it (for the common a/c issue it causes, don't remember exactly now) but that was almost 2 years ago. I've also replaced the cam position sensor probably a year ago, I believe it was throwing a code then (again as I understood it was a common issue with them as well).

i agree with busted. pull the cam sensor out, crank the car, make sure the cams are turning so you know the timing belt is intact. go from there.

you might also turn the key from off to run 3x, like on,off,on,off,on. if you do it right, it'll either tell you codes in the odometer area, or it'll simply say "done".

let us know (:

Do the "key dance" to retrieve codes or use a scanner. (on-off sequence as noted above). If it's the cam sensor, you'll likely have a code. Could also be a fueling or spark issue.

same P0340 code if the belt breaks though so he really does need to look for it spinning as well

If the cam position sensor wasn't Mopar, it may be the problem - aftermarket ones don't last.

Randy; Why do you care if she only drives it to school?

Others; good answers. On a 2006 non-turbo; there is a plastic 'body plug' in the top timing belt cover that can be pried out and both edges of the cam sprockets can be seen. Kind of a pain though.
