Exclamation Overheating PT

PT is overheating intermittently. What is so odd is that sometimes it runs perfect then just out of the blue it starts gurgling. Last time I posted on this issue I thought it was fixed but I guess not. So far what I've done ; Flushed Radiator, upper and lower hoses, new thermostat, thermostat housing, radiator cap, and I noticed the high side of the fan motor was toast so replaced that as well. Ran great for a few months then as she pulled up to the house the gurgling was back. I checked and the fan was not working. Wired the fan strait to 12v source and both high and low came on. Checked the connector and the ground pin looked to be a bit worn so I soldered a new connector on. Started the car and low worked with ac on and the high kicked on when the car got up to temp. Kicked the car back out to her and 2 days later, she tells me it is gurgling again. What gives? The temp gauge is registering so I wouldn't think its the ECT

You didn't specify how many miles or on the PT.
Your radiator fans may be working but not producing enough air flow.
Assuming the fans or working as expected, I recommend the following:
  • Bleed the cooling system
  • Have your radiator flow tested to ensure it is not clogged
  • Test the coolant temperature sensor

I would suggest driving the PT Cruiser for the next few days and see if the low and high speed on the radiator fan is cutting out. You might still have a problem with the radiator fan not working.
