Default Help with cooling system!!

Hello everyone

I'm having a problem with water gauge going up to the red after i first drive the car for about a mile after first starting up. I have replaced the thermostat, fan , and radiator cap. After going in the red it comes back down and stays down most of the time. i have burped it once and it still does it . I even drained the radiator.Driving me nuts!! Any help would be greatly appreciated !!

Might be a bad temp censer.

Try it with the radiator cap off. If it is truly getting hot, it should start pumping out very hot coolant when the temp goes up. But if the coolant just circulates as normal, check the temp with a cooking thermometer. If it's staying under 200 degrees F, you probably just need a new censer.

Note of caution. The hot coolant can and will burn you. And do not open a closed radiator cap while the car is hot unless you are a hill billy like me that grew up doing such dumb things and routinely gets burned anyway.
