Default New Stant 45209 Thermostat FAILED!!!

Yep,

After only two weeks, my newly installed Stant 45209 "Superstat" Thermostat failed.

These are designed to fail in the open position. And sure enough, my PT never warmed up even after driving 55 miles in 34 degree air. Eight hours later, I started the car, popped the radiator cap, and there was the coolant rushing by as though no thermostat was installed.

I'm not happy. And I won't be replacing this one with another Stant. Ahhhh!

I would be very surprised that your STANT failed! You would be a first for me seeing one that did. I can say I have installed and sold hundreds and not one ever failed.
If you call STANT they will replace it for you or the place you purchased it from. Personally in this circumstance where you are posting that it was a specific product by name I would like it to be verified. To often people claim failed parts and pass it on as fact without actual verification. An example is the the MSD coil claimed failures but no one has one to prove? The so called stock PT Cruiser ignition wires, electrical parts made in Asian countries etc.... Maybe a picture of it in the open position when you remove it. There are other things that can cause what you described and not all are a flailed thermostat.

The actual part is in the photo. It was bought at Advance Autoparts. I compared it with the standard model while in the store. It was the same except for the rubber center piece. And it worked fine for three weeks.

I see a box I do not see the thermostat?
I know it is the "I spy" game?

I recommend STANT products often to customers, friends and on PT Forums so when there is a question about one claimed failing I am surprised and about the facts.

anybody else see the scariness of this photo?

Right cheer. The unboxed item.

As you can see, I drilled a small hole in it as I always do. I'm sure Stant would say that's the issue. But I've always done this with never an issue. And the thermostat did work fine for three weeks.
