Default Instrument cluster "no buss" fix

This forum helped me to fix my wifes PT Cruiser so I though I share some tips:

It has been running reliably but suddenly flashed airbag and engine lamps, chimed and showed "no buss" in the Odo-meter. It is the PCI buss between Engines Control Module, ECM and the instrument cluster which has a contact problem. The cable is violet-yellow and runs from the ECM through the connector/loom which enters the car far left and then goes to connector C106 behind and underneath the fuse box on the instruments panels left side. C106 is a grey big connector which is visible from underneath the panel to the left of the diagnostic connector and to the right of an equal big white C105 connector. A new loom then takes the PCI bus to the instruments clusters big black connector where the violet-yellow PCI buss is the last pin, 38.

I started with the instrument cluster connector (wich was OK), then went to the ECM and finally found C106. As C106 is the easiest to get to (tuck under and jog the connector halves to see if the bus returns) I would recommend starting there, could spare you a lot of work .

Question Re: Instrument cluster "no buss" fix

It's not absolutely necessary, but it would be a nice thing to do.
