Default Carrier bearings question

Do the automatic transmissions in PT Cruisers have problems with the carrier bearings in the differential wearing out like in the earlier 3 speed FWD vehicles had? I had a Dodge FWD van years ago with the carrier bearing problem. My 04 Turbo Cruiser seems to be making the same noise. Is it possible to remove the carrier from the tranny in my Cruiser without "major" work? I have replaced these bearing over the years in other trannies, but most of the trannies were out of the cars. My old FWD Dodge van had a 4 cylinder engine, so I could remove the carrier while the tranny was in the van. My Cruiser has an automatic and is a Turbo Lite.

The noise is not the wheel bearings or struts. I have replaced both already. The struts were "loaded" units.

Don't recall reports here of that happening.
Anyone else recall a post on this?
