Smile Transmission filter change + fluid

EVERY CAR I ever had; I believed in some major maintenance at 60,000 miles but now it appears automakers are talking 100,000...I think that is TOO LONG to wait
Changing the trans gasket and filter in the spring in my 'new' 2006; 112k miles and it appears previous owners maintained the vehicle well.
The ATF +4 is bandied about...is that synthetic? My pan I believe has the 14 holes; the report from Chrysler says I have the : DGL 4-speed automatic tranny. What is the preferred nomenclature ?

I bought a drain plug which I will install in the pan after cleaning thoroughly etc upon removal rather than buy the Dorman part.
Unlike my 1997 Taurus I assume no mfr makes a reusable gasket; theTAURUS gasket was 1/8 - 1/4 thick plastic center with neoprene or silicone ribs on both sides; NO WARPAGE; just clean thoroughly and replace

4 quarts from drain to refill; w/o taking out the torque converter ?!?!?

FWIW I bought the AC DELCO filter kit

I think the auto trans should be flushed every 50,000 miles.
I fond a place with a flushing machine - it gets all the old fluid out - ATF + 4 only. - cost about $200.
Yes, ATF + 4 is synthetic.

I believe 50k is right... AFAIK the schedule actually calls for 48k.

Not sure I'd mess with a gasket. ChryCo "Grey" (IIRC) works perfectly, and is what they recommend using.

I like to do stuff at 60,000 no more...belts; hoses; fluids; filters etc

The AC DELCO box that came in...well that gasket was grey but maybe not the one you are describing; its not cork; its not neoprene. FLAT CLEAN surface torqued CORRECTLY shouldn't fail ever...

On that Taurus I mentioned I NEVER had an issue with that amazing reusable gasket; maybe that was the only one around ;-)

Won't lie, Ford has awesome gaskets - they don't mess around.

There are a few different brands of ATF + 4 out there; can EASILY get CASTROL; having difficulty getting Valvoline; PENNZOIL is avail thru an eBay vendor.

Opinions on CASTROL etc...
