Default Tech question? IDK

Does anyone know where to find the vin number on the motor? Is there even one, or maybe just a date code. I'm asking because I noticed a freeze out plug on my cyl head had a heat tab on it. It made me think that maybe the motor or at least the head may have been changed at one point. the car has 115k on it. It would be nice to know if the belt has been changed. I'll be doing it when it warmer out anyway. I bought it from a used car dealer with no history. It is a 2003 DC Auto.

Are we talking about the engine number or the actual VIN number for the car?

Good question.
Handy just gave you the engine # - VIN is on a plate you can see at bottom of windshield.

Should also be on the sticker on the drivers door.

Every engine has a vin number from the car that is was put in, Along with all the body parts on the car. I saw a heat tab on my head and it made me think that my motor or head may have been replaced. If the vin doesn't match on the block then I know it was changed. If it's on the fron of the motor I'll never see that. Thanks anyway.
