Default Reversed battery connections- help

I am dealing with a 2002 PT Cruiser that had a battery replaced. While replacing the battery the owner hooked positive wire to negative terminal and the negative wire to the positive terminal. It started smoking from under the intake manifold. Now there are major power problems. No dome light, no radio.... Are there any fusible links against the motor under the intake manifold?

Question Re: Reversed battery connections- help

Have you checked all the fuses?....It sounds like it blew the IOD fuse to me.
Replace the IOD fuse under the hood in the Power distribution center.
It is located near the battery on the driver' side.
Remove the cover and locate the fuse using the label on the top of the cover as your guide.
It is labled IOD/20A.

Neighbor pooched his battery doing the same thing ( he's an electrician ! ) At any rate, just cost him a new battery....so try that ?

THANK YOU!!!! My son is a happy camper! Stole the fuse out of the windshield wipers and swapped it out. He called and said that his blinkers are not working and I told him that the WW's and blinkers are most likely on the same fuse. He will replace that tomorrow and we will know for sure. Thanks again!
