Default Fog Lights Not Working. Not Fuse, Bulb or MFS

Hi,

Been having a odd problem with my PT. It is a US 2001 LE
w/ 114K Miles

I noticed that my fog lights were not coming on and have attempted to fix it by:

1. Replacing Interior Fuse #8. (not burned out, but replaced anyway)
2. Replacing Bulb
3. Replacing Multifunction Switch.

Going through the many fog light threads the fix usually seems to be the MFS, but in my case I have not had any luck.

I am stumped, so any ideas and suggestions are welcome.

Thank you

-Yiggy

If no voltage to the light socket. The switch is the culprit.

The fog lights should be controlled by the same relay as the headlights, which are all controlled by the MFS.
The MFS & the #8 fuse break the circuit between the battery and the fog lights (when the high beam are activated, the headlight relay cuts the power to the fog lights)......The headlight relay is located below the interior fuses,in the blank spot by thumb on the right side (5-Pin/DPDT relay) which is absent in this particular photo(the left side is reserved for heated seat relay).

If you have replaced the bulbs, make sure that the power and negative are going to the right wires. I did this once with a set of led foglights. Come to find out, I wired them correctly but the manufacture had them wired backwards.

As Randy says, power to the fog lights passes through the N/C relay. Selecting high beams switches the relay, cutting fog-light system power. Also when the high beams are selected, the power to the low beam (through the MFS) is cut.
However at the same time, the relay switches the power (from fog) to the low-beam bulb circuit via a different (non-MFS) path (thus the 5-pin relay).

If the relay is bad, the low beam bulbs will go off and on as the high beams are toggled.
In normal operation the low-beam bulbs are always (hi or low) and the high beams are added, when selected.
