Default SOS

I recently purchased an 06 PT Cruiser, site unseen, and well it has a kink.

Apparently, when put into gear (manual tranny), it won't move.
Seems to be stuck in neutral..

Engine revs up, no movement to the tires...

Car seems to want to move... but she's kaput.

I'm in California, the car's in Arizona.
I need to figure this out and fast!
Old owner wants it gone ASAP.

I was thinking a linkage issue but who knows.

You should first check the linkage - the bushings are known to fail.
Read up on Booger Bushings here - you can find more info by searching for booger on this site

I have the receipts and paperwork to the vehicle.

The slave cylinder is new too. The shifter wants to go into gear. They tried all gears, including reverse.

The owner said she was driving and put it in neutral at a light (big nono! God, people DOWNSHIFT!!) And when she went to put it back into gear, it wouldn't move. Said she towed it back, and heard something, but couldn't dictate where or the nature of the sound.

The car was only $100. I'm taking a small risk on it. No matter what though, it has to get back to California. If I decided to sell, it has to be here. There's no market for them in Arizona. I'm hoping something just came loose, but as my dad always says, "If I didn't have bad luck, I'd have no luck."

That's a possibility...

Damn these manual cars.
My automatic never had this many problems.
Ever.
