Question New fuel pump, but now no fuel to front?

Hello, been having a problem with my fuel system.

Changed the fuel pump, and tested to make sure the fuel was being pushed through by disconnecting the fuel line at the firewall. A steady stream shot out very strong. Hooked everything back up and raised fuel tank back, everything reassembled. Car started, ran for a few seconds, then quit, and would not start again. Just kept turning over and over. Disconnected fuel line at firewall again, and NO FUEL comes out anymore even though can still hear fuel pump priming when key is switched to on.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

J

Either crud from the tank is blocking the pump, or you have a kink/break in fuel line - any gas under the car? Could you have pinched fuel line when you remounted tank?

That's what i'm going to look for tomorrow when it warms up here... going to drop the tank again to be sure there's no kink. No there is no gas under the car. Tank is near full of gas at current moment, that sucker is heavy. Added gas to it after finishing the installation. It had great pressure before remounting the tank... so the kink in the line idea is the one I'm currently going with, too...

i did that on my mustang, but i pinched the return line. i thought my adjustable FPR was busted, it wouldn't go lower than 65psi and i wanted it set at 40. i hope that's the problem. it does happen

i'd guess the little 6" line came off the pump and inside the tank and it's making a cute little fountain in there.

Was there a solution found? I have a 2007 PT and i am not getting fuel to pump. I did cut an access panel and replaced the fuel pump. Still nothing. I can hear the pump for a second or two when I first turn the key. Any Help out there?

Timing belt broken? Cam position sensor failed or wiring bad?

BigO; It is normal to hear the fuel pump run for a couple of seconds when you turn the key to ON. And then the pump will shut off if the engine isn't cranking over.
