Default 30,000 mile service

I'm wondering what is done to the PT for the 30K service?
Dealer said $399. Seems high. Besides lube, oil, filter,
and spark plugs, why is it so expensive? I'll do it myself
but would like to know if the are better plugs to use other
than factory. I've got an air-aid, spacer, & dual exhaust
and wondering what else to do. Getting 25-26 MPG at 70-75
MPH. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Greg

My dealer charged $282. They did what is in the owners manual for the 30,000 mile checkup. If you do your own keep records and detail what you did and keep receipts.

The schedule only calls for replacing the spark plugs, air filter, and PCV valve.
Then they should "inspect" the suspension and belts.

That's it.

That would cost about $100 at my shop.
You got screwed.

And there is no "lube" any more - if you're lucky they'll smear some grease on door hinge....
The Champion Platinum plugs are the way to go - I have not seen a single post with problems with the champion platinums - they last longer than the copper.

Thanks for the info... I'll change plugs and PCV valve, then take it
to shop where they do oil change, filter, rotate tires and wash
vehicle for $29.95... I'll use Champion Platnium Plugs...Question,
do I get single platnium or double?? Also how long do these plugs
last and what is gap and part #: ? Thanks, Greg

I just bought Champion Double Platinum Plugs (7440), they are to be gapped at .050 for the PT. Don't forget to use antiseize on the plugs. Keeps the plug from seizing in the aluminum heads. "PTDoityourself.net" has a very good article on replacement. Look under "Spark Plug Installation Guide".

Finally, something I know about!!!! [^]

Right on. I also recommend dielectric grease on the spark plug "boot" so it keeps moisture out and doesn't stick into head as much.

alt oflace the 30k is oil change air filter trans service tire rotate pcv valve throttle body/intake cleaning spark plugs i recomend the stock ones, the reason it the platinum tip can get to hot and glow causing detonatioin.

Nowhere in the service schedule in the owner's manual does it call for throttle body service or injector cleaning. The tranny fluid is not called for at 30K miles.

Stick with the schedule for your car.
