A while back I had a leak in my rear wheel brake cylinder. Got that fixed and now, when I brake, I get a clicking noise from that wheel. I checked the auto adjuster, and it looks ok, could the brake fluid have bled into the bearing and caused a bearing failure? or any other suggests as to the clicking noise?
tnx. |

I had a similar issue with my 03. I had a clucking/clicking sound every time I used the brakes. Drove me nuts. Check all the rear suspension could not find anything. What I finally found was the inner brake pad had came loose from the attach spring mounting clip. The inner brake pad was rattling around against the metal hardware.

If the shoes got saturated with fluid. They can stick to the drum making that sound. Or recheck the hard ware to make sure everything is as it should be . Fluid can't get to the bearing.

1) He says it only clicks when hit hits the brakes, with the pad problem, the clicking would go away when I hit the brakes... 2) He mentions an auto adjuster, which implies rear drums...

Thanks all for your replies.
I am going to jack her up tomorrow and see what the stickiness sit. looks like. When I spin the drum, (it's an 01) there is no clicking noise, so I am led to believe that it is something that will only make that noise under pressure. The braking doesn't seem effected, however with ceramics in the front, and the back brakes only really working hard when there was a load, it's hard to tell about the quality of the back brakes. When I have it open, I'll take some pics, worth a thousand words. |
