Default Error codes

Have a 02 2.4L with error code P601 which is internal short in pcm.Can clear code and run engine without code reseting. Code reapears on starting vehicle so I think there is fault somewhere other than pcm . Car runs normal other wise. Has anyone come accros this?

What tool and how are you clearing the DTC?

PM member Busted_PT for some information about getting a re-built PCM

The Snap-on if a newer model has a good engine code read program. In the hands of a Diagnostic Technician it is a valuable tool.

You most likely have a PCM that is going to fail. You could check the PCM connections pins for damage.

Good Luck!
