Unhappy 04 non turbo overheating :(

Hello fellow Cruisers!
Please, i need your help... My 04 Cruiser non turbo will not stop over heating. It doesn't get to the red, but at the 3/4 mark. I have to put my defrost on heat to make it go down. Ive had the relay changed out and it looked at, but its still not helping. Does anyone have advice as to what may be the cause? I just want Gonzo fixed, he's been a loyal car for 7 years for me.

Oh btw, water pump and timing belt replaced within last month, and about 150,000 milrs on him.

probably the radiator fan. chances are your a/c doesn't work either. have a look into the how to section to check the fan to see if it's working.

I'm pretty sure someone else on the forums will back me up on my assessment with more knowledge than I have. be patient.

Antonio...
Was the radiator ever removed and fins cleaned. I had this problem with my 02. I reversed high pressured and it solved the problem.

I'm bringing it to my mechanic today. I'm going to tell him to check this. The bad thing about pt's is that the engine is so tightly put together its hard to do a lot of work myself.
And yes, my AC.hasnt worked for about a year, but living in FL, windows are a nice option too lol.
Ill let you guys know what the outcome is.
Thank you for your insights!

Check the cooling fans and the fan switch first. Sounds like an air pocket in the engine. On a cold engine, purge the block via the bleeder valve under the filler neck. fill with fresh coolant till no more air bubbles show up. close the valve and the problem should be solved.

Does anyone else think it might also be a bad thermostat? Not fully closed, but partially opening?

He placed the original post and his response 5 years ago.

But I think it was most likely the fan. If it hadn't been replaced in 150k miles, the brushes were probably worn out by then.
