Default Check Engine Codes

Our 2004 Turbo Cruiser is throwing PO300 & PO304 codes. Should I change SP wires, SP's, Ignition Module, or all of them together?????

Start with plugs and wires - the stock Champion plugs are fine, gap at 0.040.
Stock wires don't last - I like Crane wires

That usually fixes it, you might be "lucky" and need intake gasket.
Stock coil usually lasts a long time.

Thanks quicksilverdon, that was my first thought also. I'll check the plugs when I replace the wires and see if that cures the codes. If not then plugs. The existing wires are about 100,000 miles old. I'll post the results.

I always do plugs and wires at same time. Hell yes, you need new wires.

New plugs and wires installed today. This went smooth and quick, since our PT Cruiser is a turbo model, it isn't necessary to remove the intake manifold as it is with the non-turbo.
Installed the plugs and wires and went for a test drive!! 30 seconds and the check engine light comes on with its "ping" alert noise. I drove to an area where I could check the code with the OBDII reader and it was a PO300, random misfire. I erased the code and drove about 10 miles in all driving conditions, slow, fast and idle. No more codes.
We'll see how it goes over the next week before I do anything else.

I know that I'm going to appear extra ignorant here, but I keep seeing a lot of posts about "throwing codes" and someone listing the code numbers. Where does one see the codes? I just read a post where someone saw three codes come up and were asking about them. How do we see them???

if you don't have a reader, without starting turn the key on off, on off, on. the codes will pop up in the odometer. I have to do it a few times as it doesn't work right off the bat.

check for the "key dance" in the tech "how to" section.

I just tried the three times turning the key within 5 seconds and, lo and behold, the word "done" came up, no codes. Amazing, I have had this car 9 years and I never knew anything about this? Man, how ignorant can an owner be. Thanks, CREWZIN.
