If you did plugs and wires, then next most likely is an intake gasket leak.
When engine is idling poorly, spray starting fluid/brake cleaner/WD40 - along intake seams - if idle smooths out, it confirms you have a bad intake gasket.

Start by checking easy stuff and then move to the harder problems.

Check the battery first. Autozone or similar will do this for free. Low voltage while the car is running may cause this.

Check for vacuum leaks. You can spray some carb cleaner around the intake manifold and vacuum hoses while the engine is running. If there is a change in engine speed, there's likely a leak. And since the upper intake manifold had to be removed to change the plugs and wires, this could very well be the issue if the gaskets did not seal well when the manifold was put back on.

Check engine compression. If in the US, you can get a loaner compression tester from Autozone. You will have to remove the upper intake for this.

Next might be a weak coil. It's easy to replace while the upper intake is off.

Next might be the fuel filter or fuel pump. I would try checking the fuel pressure with a guage at this point.

If you have low fuel pressue, you'll have to drop the fuel tank to get to the filter and pump. If you've done all that work, go ahead and replace both.

when at idle the lights dim on dash. Could it be battery or engine working to hard.

Take it to a place that tests batteries for free - then you'll know....

The P0300 DTC is a basic DTC when there is no one specific event happening that the PCM could use to better pin point the issue and translate that to a more accurate DTC. I am not reading that you checked for DTC using a code scanner and also if you had cleared the codes and re-check to see if you are getting any specific or reocurring codes.

Many of the helpful suggestions here really do not target your problem reading what you described your symptoms are . So have a good thought of action before wasting a lot of time checking the wrong parts.

For other members trying to be helpful here is what he posted. Follow the clues!?

A note in order to do a proper diagnostic testing you must use a scan tool callable of accessing and reading the stored and or pending DTCs Any other method viewing the DTC's may not be the best way to see all of them and could simply prolong correcting the problem through good diagnostic evaluating.

I didn't say to dump parts. I gave you some tests to perform starting with the easiest. Also, Nitro gave good advice about using a scanner that will better read DTC.

When working on your car at home, you should always weigh the cost of your own guesses against the cost of good diagnostics at a qualified shop. But you should also realized that many shop procedures also involve changing out parts in a specific order until the problem appears to be fixed.

If you search this forum, you will find that there is no magic bullet to fix the problems associated with the P0300. You will spend at least some money. So you need to choose either to try yourself or pay a mechanic to do it.
