Hi Guys, I have a 2005 2.4L, 5spd. 91 K miles. I took it in to have the timing belt, water pump etc. R&R. When I took it to have the air cond. recharged, the tech showed me that the low speed function on the fan was not working. He unplugged the electrical connection for the AC system @ the dryer (I think) at the firewall. I bought a new fan/shroud assembly, and installed it, and plugged the AC back in. Worked great.
A couple days later the engine started to loose power and stall. I returned it to the shop that did the timing belt R&R. They coded a crank position sensor and replaced it. (The cam position sensor was replaced about 5000 miles ago). Two days later, same symptoms, and I coded a u110c. Returned it again to the same shop, and now they say it might be a dash cluster, and they are not equipped to fix it, if that is in fact the problem. Any thoughts---please? Also changed plugs and plug wires, including intake gaskets about a week before the timing belt R&R. Last edited by nitrouspro; 18 Apr 2014 at 10:30 pm. Reason: added info |

Thanks for the reply's guys. I did the 3 click for the code (U110C) immediately after it stalled out again. What the tech used, I don't know. It will run great for about 5 highway miles before it breaks down. Then wait a few minutes, and it will start and run like nothing happened, for another 5+ miles.

Crewzin, I usually insist on MOPAR parts. BUT, this time I didn't. Nearest dealer is 20 miles away, and I don't think their open on the weekend, so I'll keep looking for something obvious until Monday, then change out the sensor. Thanks!

sounds like the sensor fails when hot.
you can pack a ziplock bag full of ice around the cam sensor and see if the problem goes away. i did that in a car with a faulty igniter. walked to a shell and bought ice and baggies, then i walked next door to a laundromat to score a coat hanger and 5 minutes later i was back on the road to return the faulty part they sold me. you might call the dealer. most parts departments by me are open on saturday, then again, it's a holiday weekend. |

I checked with the dealer, not open till Monday. Then took the battery out to test it, it's good. Also couldn't tell if the new cks was a off brand. Anyway, hooked the battery back up, and drove the car up the freeway, climbing 3000 ft altitude for 14 miles, with the AC on-----not a hiccup? Still plan on dealer diagnosis Monday and have em replace cks. (if its not a mopar piece) Thanks again for the help.
