Default Occasional thunking noise

So when i start my 2007 PT cruiser, and sometimes when I am driving, There is a audible THUNK that I can hear coming from under the car.

Searching the forums it seems like the common problem is the control brushing or something like that

Will this show up on a scan? I also have a check engine light on now that just started today. I occasionally get them, but usually it turns off on its own, something i learned is attributed to the gas or something that sorts itself out.

Scan will be no help for a thunk.
Some possibilities -
exhaust hitting
bell crank/watts link
spare tire mounting
