Cool AC Intermittent Cold then Hot

Hey any help would be greatly appreciated. I searched the forum and didnt find anything exactly like what I have going on. 2001 PT Cruiser (non turbo) 160K

Ok, so in the mornings my engine is cold and the AC appears to be blowing cold & is perfectly fine. After about 40 minutes of driving I can feel a drop in temperature but still cool, it will then return to cold and then drop again about 15 minutes later to warm and this cycle repeats.

Late afternoon, I leave work and the AC is blowing HOT! Even if the engine is cool. This seems to happen mostly when it is 85+ outside. If the outside temperature is not that hot, the AC will blow cold/warm/cool as mentioned above (intermittently).

The rad fan seems to be functioning fine while idle and the changes in AC temp do not seem to be different at idle or at highway driving. I do not seem to be having any overheating issues and the temp gauge never goes above halfway.

Suggestions? Thanks alot everyone!

Could be your cooling fan isn't working all the time when the air is on.

I'd start with a recharge and go from there....

If that's the case. There has to be a small leak. Should not lose Rrefrigerant. It's a closed system.
