Default Lucas vs Seafoam - which is better? Or are both unneeeded?

I've been using Lucas Upper Cylinder Lubricant for several years. I bought it by the gallon at O'Reilly's. I thought it gave me a little bit of fuel mileage in addition to lubing the upper cylinder and cleaning the injectors.

Recently my son and I went to O'Reilly's to get some stuff. He works for O'Reilly's in their IT department, and said that the folks who work there like Seafoam better.

So I now have a gallon of Seafoam and just put the first couple of ounces into the tank. will I notice a difference?

Or are all these "gas treatments" useless?

You definitely wont get the king of mileage you got with Lucas Upper Cylinder Lubricant with Seafoam. Since you can no loner get the Lucas product, I would recommend adding the Turbonator. Amazon.com: Air Intake Supercharger Booster Turbonator: Automotive

If the combination of those two products don't work, you might want to try a capful of Marvelous Mystery Oil to the tank as well.

This really may work better then the product(s)....bonding with your son having him give you advice and recommendations ?

That's actually funny, because the other day I stopped by my local O'Reilly's to pick up some 'CRC-1 Tank' for my truck, and the guy at the counter said I should get Lucas fuel treatment instead(I still bought the CRC!)

Have you thought about trying AMSOIL instead!

Good idea. But he's an IT guy (as am I), so his advice and recommendations can be taken with a grain of salt.

O'Reilly's still has the Lucas, and I may switch back after this gallon of Seafoam runs through. I think the bennies of either are mostly in my head.

A capful of Marvel Mystery oil? That's a new one.

Amsoil? Not for me. I don't know how good it is, but I tend to stay away from pyramid schemes. No Amsoil, no Shacklee, etc.

Can't speak for Lucas but for fuel cleaner. Berryman's Chem tool B-12 is a superior product for cleaning the fuel system parts. Simply because it has cleaners to clean metal parts and seafoam does not. Check the ingredients at Seafoam web site. then the back of the can on Berryman's. You will see why no list on the can. Since maid of mostly oil. It could be good for the lubricating part. Berryman's is a little more than a 1/3 the price of seafoam though. So stay away if you don't want to save money.
