Just got finished replacing the heater core on my 2001 PT Cruiser. What a task! Removal of the dash.
Wonder if someone can direct me in a problem I now have? Mileage light is displayed all the time with a "DOOR" message. This dome lights will not fade out like they use to. They also stay on. Did I forget to plug something back in? Thanks, Mark |

Here is what it is doing now. When I open either door, no dome lights. When I start the car, the mileage shows bright with the "DOOR" message and the dome lights light up. When I pull the keys from the ignition and close the doors, the mileage shows bright with the "DOOR" message and the dome light stay on from 5-6 minutes. Longer than the usually 20 seconds. Car running, "DOOR" message stays on and dome lights stay on. |

I discovered my problem. What a freaking idiot I am! I went around and checked each door including the hatch and found out the right rear door was not shut all the way. I feel really stupid!

Don't worry, I can top you. One day (while the car was still under warranty), I came to a stop light and the rear driver side window rolled down, all by itself. I tried rolling it back up using the automatic window buttons in the dash. No luck. I looked at the fuses? None of them seemed blown. I asked the internet for advice. None came. I finally gave in. I drove the car 20 miles to the dealership. When I got their, the mechanics were just going on lunch break. They knew it would be a while before they could take a look at it, so they drove me back 20 miles to home in their courtesy shuttle. About an hour later, the dealership called. "Your window is fixed," they said. "We're sending the shuttle to pick you up." "Wow!" I exclaimed. "How'd you fix it so quickly?" "The big box of laundry detergent you had in the back fell over and wedged itself against the automatic window button for the passengers," they calmly replied. "Once we moved the box, we could roll the window back up." ![]() |
