Default Central locking problems

My 2006 regular edition PT developed a strange problem with the central locking: it began strange locking/unlocking cycles when the key fob is used. The motors would run on and on, some doors would lock (or not). At first I replaced the battery in the key fob and things were okay for about six months and the problem returned. Initially I removed the battery from the fob but the strange actions continued. Could it be the receiving circuit (wherever that's located)? Any assistance would be appreciated, I can't afford to give the Chrys dealer a blank cheque to fix this one. Even a suggestion as to how I can make the door locks fully manual again would be better than the door lock motors running for a minute or more by themselves.

Thanks

Question Re: Central locking problems

Is this a stock RKE system,or aftermarket?.....I ask this because you asked for "a suggestion as to how I can make the door locks fully manual again";Were the locks originally manual?

Default Re: Central locking problems

Just to satisfy my curiosity...try disconnecting the negative battery cable in the car for 5 minutes or so and see if the problem won't correct it's self OCD.

If you've tried that...never mind. ;~)

I know a LOT of the perihelia components on the little Cruiser, LIKE the stalks on the steering column, have their own computer control systems built in. It could be that taking the power away would allow it to "reboot" so to speak to a factory state.

Since they normally just fail, I doubt it, but it might work and it's easy to try?
