Yes, ATF +4 is what you need; get synthetic. My transmission fluid was changed (synthetic added) at Oil Can Henry's.

Exclamation Re: PT 5 speed trans fluid??? ATF +4??????

In '01 Chrysler used a MOPAR only gear oil in the 5 speed transmission, it is only available at the dealer. There are no aftermarket equivalents. This oil was used in other MOPAR vehicles prior to the PT as well.
I bought 3 quarts a couple years ago to do a fluid change in mine, it was about $18 a quart some dealers were over $20 a quart!

Sometime in '02 they changed to ATF+4 as the gear oil in the manual transmission.

After many hours of researching ms9417 I ulitimately ended up using pennzoil gm synchromesh fluid. It's an oil with an additive similar to the original fluid. The dealer tried to sell me atf4 and I passed.

Neon used the T350 (same as PT) since late 93.
There were dozens, maybe hundreds of threads on trans fluid on the Neon forums, with all us monkeys swearing that they determined it must have (insert any given name) oil, and any other oil would cause catastrophic failure.

Yet, there were no lubrication related failures (except the differential, which failed no matter what lube was used)

Me? I use plain old ATF, and at 300,000 miles, perhaps it will be failing soon.

As I closely followed the "SOX and MARTIN" SS HEMI Cuda, Dusters some where along I read they used auto transmission fluid in their standard 4 speeds of the day. I miss those days of match racing.
