Default performance tappers off.

First time post, be gentle.

I have a 2003 GT. I bought it used and it already had a stage 1 ecu/bov. I had this cheap shop do my timing belt/water pump and they caused a boost leak. I found the issue was a loose clamp coming off the bottom inter cooler outlet on the passenger side. The boost leak/hissing sound is gone. The issue that I am having now is that when I accelerate, it just stops pulling as soon as i build boost. I am lost and cannot find anything about this. I also noticed that one of the beige colored vacuum were not connected and had a screw in the end of it. The boost gauge shows I push a steady 15-18lbs of boost. It also sounds less "aggressive"like when I decelerate/downshift and the bov also sounds different (more of a high pitched sound). An suggestions would be appreciated.

simplified: A stock PT Cruiser Turbo and the PCM will spike to about 15psi and tapper down around 12psi. A Stage 1 and or a PCM performance calibration will get you 16psi spiked and settle down around 13-14 psi. All this is dependent on how well the mechanical conditions of the engine as well the ignition system.

The tapering off of power posted is all over the internet. Most Dyno graphs will show you a great leap in power and than it drops off. Even modified PTs show this. So basically what you are describing is normal.

To build a more linear power bands takes careful consideration and planning of parts.

Thank you for the reply.
It just seemed a lot more powerful before they did the timing belt. I use to be able to break loose in 1st and 2nd. I found the vacuum line that was disconnected and fixed it, but it did not seem to do anything. Idk if it matters or not but it is manual and not auto. Is it possible they did something with the timing when they replaced the belt?

If they had botched the lineup of the timing belt, your idle would be crappy.

Something that I forgot to mention that may matter... I had a coolant leak on the turbo return line and it was leaking ontop of the TPS.... could that possibly have something to do with it?
