Default cooling fan

I'm having a heck of a time finding the right fan for my car. SteveWhiteParts.com has several options, RockAuto has several options, Napa and Autozone are the same. How do I determine which fan is correct? I'm trying to avoid pulling the old one out before the new one gets here and I'm way to big to fit underneath to see the connector. Ramps you say?? I don't have a set after driving my Cummins up on my old ones, they just collapsed. Thanks!!

On the RockAuto site, you have to fill in all the information about what car you have before it shows you all the choices of the fans. ALL of them that they show you should fit your car if you filled out all the info correctly. Most went with the DORMAN fan because of the lifetime warranty.

Thanks Crewzin, Rockauto gave me 6 choices, some had 3 pin connectors, some had 4 pin. Some had references to the Mopar P/N which I haven't figured out which one is which yet. It also references the mysterious 2.4L non-turbo 'X' engine. I just want to make sure I get the right one the first time. BTW, they are about $60 cheaper than any of the parts stores and that's with shipping!

I just had my fan replaced at a local shop because the labor rate was cheaper than the dealer's, but the owner said that they used the original Mopar fan they got from the dealership, that's all he would use. Although I am just fine with having the Mopar fan, does that make it any better than an aftermarket fan by other names which are less expensive? Too late for me now but just curious.

Oregon,

I believe the only fan that uses the 4 pin connection is the 2003 Turbo. I went to RockAuto but the only question was if I had a 2.4 or 2.0. Nothing about an "X" engine. It gave me 6 choices and the 4th was for the Dorman fan assembly for $81.79. When the site asked about the engine, if you look on your VIN, the 8th letter designates the type engine and the non-tubo 4 cyl, DOHC should be a "B". At least for the 2001.

I copied the following from RockAuto:

DORMAN Part # 620022 {#5017407AA, 5017407AB}
Radiator Fan; w/3 pin harness and no relays
DORMAN Part # 620052 {#5179470AA}
Radiator Fan; Engine VIN X; w/4 pin harness and relays

This is where I'm getting confused, the top one says 3 pin, the bottom one says 4 pin and VIN X. The numbers that start with 5 are Dodge P/N's. I'm thinking I'll just go to Autozone or O'Reillys and take what they give me, it's about $40 more than Rockauto but if it's not the right one I'll just take it back.
Thanks for your help!!
John

This is the one you need. Looks like it's the four pin. This is the one I used for my 09 and my daughters 06. You have to have the one that has the relays mounted on the shroud. The 022 fan must be for 01-05.

The 620052 is what i bought. The three pin connector is eliminated, mfg cost saving. The four pin connector sends power to the relays which send power to the fan motor.

I borrowed the neighbors ramps and found I have the 3 pin so I ordered it from Rockauto. Thanks for all the input.
