Default Solution for codes 355 and 344

GROUNDING!

The point of this post is to illustrate the importance of good grounds when you are getting sensor problems. Its a super-cheap fix before you start throwing parts at a problem.

I fought with this for about a month - I got codes 344, replaced the cam sensor, then 335, replaced the crank sensor (both with dealer parts) and it didn't change. Then I started getting 300 (random misfire) 304 (bank 4 misfire) and 2074 (mismatch between MAP and TPS sensor readings). By the end, I swapped out the cam and crank position sensors, map sensor, coils, ecu, plugs, and plug wires.
When looking through everything I found that the ground from the battery to the body had broken off. I reattached it, but everything was so corroded that it didn't make a difference. I ended up running a new ground to the starter/engine block and both locations when the multiple ground wires connect. When doing so I cleaned the locations where they made contact with a wire brush to get rid of any thing underneath. Once done, it worked great!

Thanks for your post. Yes, there's been many posts about the importance of all the ground wires on the PT. Here's one that covers the ground wire in the wheel wells and on Hyper Grounding......

ground wires from body to front struts?
