Default signal light doesn't work when breaks applied

Hey Guys heres an odd one for you. My passenger side signal works fine. The drivers side signal works fine too until the break is applied then they go out, take my foot off the break signal works. I was thinking there must be a short in the rear socket? I figured I'd check here first before I replace the socket. Thanks guys!

Check the bulbs also, front & back...it sounds like they might be single filament bulbs.

I'm gonna swap the bulbs now, they are the same ones that have worked fine the past 6 months but who knows if one filament failed and is hitting the other.

Both failing at the same time...now THAT would be weird! ;~)

Just on a lark, look up under the dash and make SURE that when you mash the brake pedal that a wiring harness hasn't come loose and fallen down onto the pedal. It could be something as simple as the brake pedal arm or plunger contacting a wiring loom and causing a momentary disconnect in the wiring for the turn signal.

Just a thought?

By the way, I had a Ranger that when a brake light bulb would go out, the cruise control would stop working properly. And if both brake lights went out...the cruise quit working all together. LOL

Go figure? I HATE computers. ;~)

I'll have to check under the pedal! I just changed the bulbs and both stopped working completely in the rear. After a few minutes the drivers side rear worked again but still goes out when breaks pushed and rear passenger is completely dead now.

I got them working now even when the brake is pressed. It's all back to normal. I noticed that the previous owner had wired in a harness for a set of trailer lights, it was done pretty poorly so I removed it and rewired the originall harness back together and it's all good to go. I'm going to order a pair of new bulb sockets to be safe though mine are kinda crispy. Thanks for the help guys.
