Cool Rough idle, spark knock / pinging

2001 2.4L with Whipple Supercharger. Engine is idling very rough, sounds like it's running on 3 cyl at the exhaust. No trouble codes. When driving it is now noticeably pinging (spark knock) under medium to hard acceleration below 3500 rpm. Seems to have less power than normal. Is this a symptom of an intake leak? Or a hole in a piston? Or? I haven't checked anything yet, just thought I'd ask some questions before I start on it.

Connect a hand vacuum gauge to the intake manifold either tee into the PCV or the brake hose. Than start your engine and report what the gauge is doing.

If you do not have one than now is the time to invest in one! They are at most all better auto parts chain stores for around 15-30 bucks.

Do you mean the type with the vacuum squeeze handle and gauge? Also, I have a gauge inside the car that shows vacuum and boost, will that tell you anything?
