Default 07 PT touring - 107K - timing belt

Newbe to the forum here - Just got this really nice 07 PT, and going through what need to be fixed. Typical stuff broke (Probably why it was sold) Bad rad fan, bad upper and lower engine mounts. those are next weekend. The forum has been such a great help getting those both sorted out.

My question is: Is there any way I can tell if the timing belt has already been replaced? Any access or inspection hole I could use to check the belt condition?

Any help would be appreciated...

If it was a dealer serviced vehicle It would show in their service record and with a little thought that you need and estimate the dealer might show you that it was done previously. Just a thought,

It makes sense that if the motor mounts are shot, the timing belt was probably not changed. I bought this car at an auction and unfortunately no service records were in the car. Also it's an out of state car.

The good thing is that it has been taken care of very well, interior, exterior are in excellent condition, the engine bay is dusty but overall clean. fluids and wiring all in good shape. Engine strong, AC cold, shifts great.

I've watched several Youtube Timing belt replacement videos, and read the threads on the forum. Really good info, but that project looks like a real PITA.

I think I will knock out the fan and motor mount replacement, that's kinda cheesecake stuff. The timing belt no so much.

For those who have had their timing belt replaced what was the price for the belt, tensioner, water pump replacement?

I have several dealerships (will use only if I have to) and some auto service shops near me. Just trying to determine a reasonable price to expect. Thanks again.

I'd take a chance and take the vin to the dealer and tell them that you bought the car and there were no records with it, ask if its on any recall list or TSB list. and could you tell me if their dealer serviced the timing belt?

When I took my Neon to the dealer to get a used ECM they told me it was originaly titled in Sweeden. They reprogrammed the ECU and new key.

Timing belt , Water pump , Tentioner , Idler , Mounts were all good so I saved that $50 , Recharged the AC.
Total labor $551 / Parts $105 / $656 not Bad for Florida

You can pay for a CARFAX report by providing your VIN#. I recently got one for my PT and the report contains a lot of service history. Could give you some valuable info on what has been done.
