Default Help. Pt won't start

Have a 06 pt cruiser with 113000 miles. My girlfriend left the car running for a minute in the parking lot and it just died and would not start. It would turn over but not start. Went and bought a new battery but was doing the same thing. Ended up checking the codes and received a p0340 and a p0562. I am trying to figure out if the 562 is causing the other code. I went out to work on it this morning and I can't even get it to turn over. Please help!!!! I know the 340 is the cam shaft sensor but can't figure out the power problem.

Did you miss the opportunity to change the timing belt before the cogs (teeth) stripped of or the belt broke? I believe if the belt breaks there is little chance of valve damage but if enough cogs strip off the belt the crank can still drive one cam out of timing enough to possibly bend valves, It happen to one I purchased.

Replace the Cam Sensor, the low voltage code might go away after the car is actually running.

Thanks for the help guys. Just cleaned all the battery terminals so the low power codes r gone. Still getting the p340 and took the sensor off and the magnet is not turning so I am assuming it is the belt. Didn't realize how much I will have to take off just to check the belt. Any tips would be appreciated.

you may be able to pry the cover apart at the top just to see IF the belt has snapped , slip a flathead screwdriver between the seams and twist it apart, no way to check the condition of it without going all the way.. learned from some very knowledgable people here that a belt that LOOKS good doesnt mean a thing

I tried that but all I could see was the top and it didn't look loose. I asked her if it made a noise before the car shut off but she said no which I find odd if it broke.

There is 3-4, small (i think 8mm) bolts holding top timing cover on and you can remove it and see if belt is broke or turns when cranking

Can only see the top of the belt but it feels tight. No play at all. I am very confused right now.

I'll repeat: If the cogs on the inside of the belt strip off, the belt will still have tension but be out of time. If the missing cogs are over the front cam gear (like Mine were) the valves "COULD" be touching and the starter cannot turn the motor over. I would hope I'm wrong for your sake.
