Unhappy Fuse blowing out for brake lights

I have a 2006 PT Cruiser. I am blowing out a #11 fuse and the brake lights are going out, and also, when this happens, it's hard to get my gear shift out of park, even while depressing the brake pedal. I replace the fuse, it works for about 5 minutes or so, and blows again. Please, any suggestions? I takes me 1/2 hour to get to work and without brakes, I do not want to get hit!

Take the rear brake lights out and check for frayed wires or water inside the lens, anything that would cause the circuit to blow the fuse.

I believe you have to step on the brake pedal to move out of park - that points to a faulty brake switch if getting it out of park is difficult. Switch could also be your fuse problem...
