Default 038 and 032 codes??? Car won't run

I have been having codes thrown ever since I finished my timing belt job (WTF were the engineers thinking on this job). They are the heater sensor codes. I have been able to reset the ecu and they they would go away. The weird thing is when these codes come, the engine misses and dies if the RPM's go below 2500 or so. it finally stranded me out on the highway. The car will idle just fine, but as soon as I put it in -Drive- engine would die. Can the heater sensors really make this car not run?

No but the ECU can if it receives sensor imputs that are out of range.
This is especially true of sensors monitoring the catalytic converter.
Your codes involve the oxygen sensors and they do monitor the catalytic converter as they watch the stoichiometric combustion efficiency.

But it's just Sensor heater. It's not reading O2 levels. How does a bad heater sensor do that? Its also caused all my gauges to stop working. Excuse my ignorance as heater sensor are a new thing for me. I did, just now, unplug both O2 sensors, took battery cable off and waited 15 minutes then ran that thing up to 90mph's with no codes thrown. I assumed these problems were coming from a bad battery before the car broke down but with a new battery it got worse. LOL

OK I had to go back in your sparse history to learn that the car is apparently a 2003.

You seem to be parsimonious with information. Gauges not working? That problem is elsewhere.

More information please if you want long distance help here where many might suggest you check the ignition switch, wiring and connector.

I have the 032/038 codes to not come back, but now it's throwing 508. After working on that issue I ran the thing again and blew my water pump. Since I just put a new one in, and how much of a PITA that was, I think i'm just gonna sell the thing and move on. Any suggestion as to were a go place to list a GT cruiser is?
