Default Mild Peformance Upgrades

Hey guys. It's been a while since I posted. Health issues and changes at my job. Anyways I was thinking about doing some mild upgrades for a little more power and better mileage (if that's possible). Just wanting to get a few suggestions on things like intake, exhaust, and if I should look into a performance computer. Also does anyone know if a PCM from say a Neon SRT4 would attach and if it would add anything or damage anything? We'll thanks for any opinions in advance.

Your best upgrade for a power increase and bang for the buck is a Dioblosport.

A PCM should be kept to PT Cruiser to PT Cruiser only or a STAGE 1 specifically for PT Cruiser.

Mileage increases can be better done be the common sense things like changing driving habits, the mechanical state of tune and tire pressures of your PT cruiser.

Here's a few things I've done to my 2001 PT Limited:

The "Handy" Tune-Up

The "Handy" Air Intake Mod

The "Handy" Chrome Shifty Swap

The "Handy" NOPI Strut Bar Installation

The "Handy" Vanity Cover Mod

The Handy Rear Disc Brake Upgrade

Realistic power up grades are old school on a n/a. Cams ported heads. Exhaust and intake might yelled 5 hp total. Not a lot for the money.

Weight and rolling resistance. Back seats = 100lbs. Belly fat = 25lbs (?) Pump the tires up to +10lbs over sticker.

Yep.

It's kind of frustrating that you can't buy performance cams for an NA that will do very much. For older V8 engines, a good performance cam balanced to the rest of your components can really add a whole lot. But as far as I know, no such cams exist for the NA. Thus porting the head and adding freer flowing exhaust is likely to do little also. From what I've been able to glean, the NA engine is fairly optimized as is based on what's available in the aftermarket.

The exception of course is the Whipple supercharger. But that's a lot more than a "minor" mod.
