Default K&N Filter / Electric Control Box Access

I'm back with another question. 2001 Cruiser with a K&N air filter. Has a steel air diverter that goes right over the middle of the fuse box(can't remove cover). Does it just unbolt? Do I really need it? Don't like not having access without tools. Need to access the fuses to troubleshoot the infamous fog light problem.

Will need pics to see that.

Since it's a 2001, everything you need to troubleshoot the fog light problem is in the interior of the car. Interior fuses and Multi-function switch.

Yep.

If the fog lights will not go off, then you will have to pull the fog light fuse inside the car. If you have no fog lights, there is a good chance that fuse has already been pulled.

To fix the problem, you will need to either replace the multifunction switch or repair it. Here's a link to how I repaired mine.

My fog lights don't work, wanted to see if the fuse was pulled. I thought the fuse was in the engine bay not in the interior fuse panel. Have a new multi switch on order as my headlights went out one night while driving a few times and came back on by them selves.

It's the No#8 fuse in the interior fuse box that works the fogs. Usually when someone has problems, the first thing they do is pull that fuse so you might find it missing. Then the problem is probably the MFS (which you have on order.

Go through this thread to see how to replace the MFS.

how to install multi-function switch?

my headlights went out one night right after leaving the liquor store(LOL). the problem ended up being a grey connector under the dash. it commonly melts and causes the headlights and tailights to quit. make sure you inspect this connector on yours. this is likely your headlight problem. the headlight portion of the multifunction switch is very simple and well built for the headlight circuit. foglights are another story.

pic of connector:can't see the road!
