Default A/C lines and the Water Pump

So I need to replace my water pump... yay me!!... I read that i have to remove the rigid A/C lines that run in the general area. I am just wondering if I really have to or if i can get away with not removing them.

Thanks

I didn't bother the AC lines when I changed my water pump, timing belt, tensioner and idler.

Depending on the year you may want to change the pulley on the tensioner for the AC - Power steering while you have it off

The water neck can leak and appear to be the pump. But if you sure, you should be doing the belt and tensioners as well. Check the how to's in the tech and performance section on all this.

I assume you know the entire front of the engine needs to be stripped down to get to the water pump and it is driven by the timing belt that has to be removed as part of the process.

There are many people here who have done the timing belt job without unhooking the A/C hoses. I have personally had the suction hose that connects to the top of the A/C compressor fail twice when doing maintenance in the general area. Once was a power steering pump replacement and once was a thermostat replacement. When I did my timing belt I pumped down the A/C system and unhooked the hoses and that time at least, I didn't damage and have to replace the hose.
