Default Check oil light?

I have a 07 with 51K miles, and the check oil light just started coming on. It doesn't stay on, it comes on every now and then. Yes I checked, and I have oil on the dip stick! I tried finding a code by turning the key 3 times in 5 seconds, but nothing comes up. Any ideas? Thanks.

There are no codes for Low oil pressure that I know of.
By saying there is oil on the dip stick, you do mean it is in its full marking on the stick. And you change it at recommended intervals.
Does the oil smell like gas?

Mine would come on and stay on and some time still does but less often since I went to a little heavier oil.

The next cheapest thing to try is to replace the oil pressure sensor or have a mechanical guage temp installed to see what the actual pressure is when hot at idle.

I have a 2007 PT Cruiser 71,000 miles automatic and the oil light comes on with the battery light randomly for a few seconds to a minute or more. You might want to check the ground wires going to the drivers side fender. There are like 6 or 7 ground wires going to one bolt on the driver's side fender and even if it looks good there might be corrosion in between the wires. I plan to cut and redo this as soon as I get a heavy soldering iron. My thinking is that when the voltage drops due to a weak ground certain sensors don't like it and your oil sensor may not like it if the voltage is dropping a little on your car.

Cool Re: Check oil light?

Mine has been doing the same thing on the vert with 96K.
The code I am getting is the oil sensor.
I will have it replaced at my next oil change.

If no codes likely the oil pressure connectors are dirty or the sensor is failing. If you do not correct the problem you will soon ignore the light and should a real problem occur you may disregard the light warning of an upcoming issue.
