Default Motor Mount MADNESS!!!! Look at this!!

Really? Motor mounts are out this badly?
Look at my motor mounts I can easily push em in and out of place since the rubber in bottom and top mounts are completely gone! I just found this out when I was doing my weekly oil checkup :S This isn't normal right? 2003 PT Cruiser Base 107k miles timing belt done long ago . No wonder I felt a slight vibration a few miles ago( I think) seems to be more like many miles ago:P

When you replace your mounts I recommend to follow the installation procedure precisely.

The picture are extreme cases of damaged mounts. You should carefully inspect ALL the other mounts for damage and wear. The 2 main mounts the upper and lower when damaged or worn place stress on the other mounts that are not designed to carry the load all the time.

both my upper and lower mounts are the same way so middle mount and left side mount are taking all the load? I will just do a complete motor mount change. Continued driving with mounts like this can cause what type of damage?

You could break engine and drive-train parts.

I highly recommend researching the motor mounts, too. I once had mine changed at a shop only to have them go bad a few years later. Find out which ones really are Oem. Sorry I can't just tell you, it's been a few years and 3 houses ago.

The aftermarket motor mounts work and last as long as the OEM and are just fine. It is all about properly installing them.
Also don't assume it was the brand of mount that caused the premature failure. The age of your PT and how it was maintained effect every part and there lifespan.
As you said a shop not you installed it. It has already been clear that many shop do not install the OPT cruiser mounts correctly even some Chrysler dealerships.

I have tested and researched the compositions of aftermarket PT mounts more than anyone should on such a simple part!

If you or anyone else can tell me what the durometor is on a OEM vs any after market mount than we would at least have a common frame of reference to at least discuss this.

IMHO when you do your search for a PT Cruiser mount find the least expensive you can! Read from procedures from a Factory service manual on how to properly install them.

Oh just so you know I offered in my Performance line of parts a modified version of a Chrysler engine mount for a few years. I used [I]aftermarket mounts for the bodies and my own polyurethane custom machined centers. I could not find any true way to improve from there design only to be able to offer a variety of hardness levels of the bushing for different applications.
Oh and the most important thing is the colors...RED,Blue,Black and Yellow!
